Living These Days

What is good for laryngitis?

How do you spell laryngitis? Well, just like that. L-a-r-y-n-g-i-t-i-s.

How do you say laryngitis?

With a whisper, if you have it.

How do you get laryngitis? Usually a bug, or overuse of the vocal cords. It’s that last one I am calling into question.

I attended a No Kings protest in Tucson, Arizona, on October 17. Attendance paled in comparison to previous No Kings events. Why? I wish I knew, even as I fear the answer.

Also, there were no young adults or children at my location.

“Why?” is the burning question. Are we tired of antics from the White House, the canceling of rules or laws that get in the way? Are we bored with the same old slaughtering of our values? Do we just feel helpless against it?

I support Ukraine, and believe many Americans do. But now it looks like we’re aligned with Russia. The same Russia that has long been the bully on the world’s playground. Why, why, why aren’t we yelling and screaming about this?

Have we simply lost heart, or are our vocal cords in a state of ruin?
