Living These Days

Poetry

Dear friend,

Sometimes when I feel overwhelmed by the world and its woes, I turn to the arts for help.

I’m especially drawn to poetry, in which I find beauty and answers.

Today I went directly to the work of my favorite U.S. woman poet, Emily Dickinson.

May its simplicity bring you comfort as well.

If I can stop one heart from breaking,

I shall not live in vain;

If I can ease one life the aching,

Or cool one pain,

Or help one fainting robin

Unto his nest again,

I shall not live in vain.
